Sugar price to rise 20sen to RM2.30 from Tuesday
KUALA LUMPUR: The price of sugar (coarse and fine) will go up by 20 sen to RM2.30 per kg from Tuesday.
The subsidy rationalisation would save the government RM116.6mil but it would still be footing a subsidy bill of RM283.4mil subsidy bill, said Dosmetic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohd Zain Mohd Dom on Monday.
The last sugar price rise was Jan (20 sen), July (25 sen) and Dec (20 sen) last year.
