The "Amarok" pickup will be produced in the automaker's Argentine unit and will be exported mainly to Brazil, Germany, South Africa and Australia, said Ronnie Frost, a director for public affairs at Volkswagen Argentina.
The automaker invested about 1.3 billion pesos ($340 million) partly to adjust the local assembly lines for the production of the pickup truck. Its rivals will include models by Toyota (7221.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and Nissan (7201.T: Quote, Profile, Research).
VW Argentina said it expects to close 2009 as the leading automaker in the country, with a market share of between 26 percent and 28 percent of a total annual production estimated at 500,000 units. (Writing by Vivianne Rodrigues, editing by Leslie Gevirtz)

cam smart jek pickup nih...tapi kat Malaysia tak masukla...Proton nyer pikap Arena tuh takde serupa pikap langsung...designla satu yang elok sikit, ni aku tengok lebih kurang jek design Proton dari dulu sampai sekarang.....macam manala orang tak komplen, pastuh kualiti, boleh pulak yang UK nyer market specification much more better than Malaysia market itself....don't mention about the costing, that is issue u need to overcome, not excuse to give low quality product to the customer.
Majulah Proton Untuk Rakyat Malaysia....
